China's deputy permanent representative to the UN, Geng Shuang, urged all parties concerned to strictly adhere to the UN Charter and avoid misinterpreting international law and Security Council resolutions, which could lead to new tensions in the Red Sea. China has called on the Houthis to respect the right of navigation for merchant vessels in the Red Sea, as well as global energy product transport.
