Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes clarified that doctors can perform abortions after 15 weeks if they make a "good faith clinical judgment" that the procedure is necessary to prevent a woman's death or "substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function." Mayes also acknowledged that the law could be read broadly enough to permit an abortion in cases of rape or incest, and doctors are allowed to consider mental health, especially if there's a belief a pregnant patient might otherwise commit suicide.
