16-year-old girl killed, 8-year-old injured in hit-and-run near Sunnyside Intermediate School; driver later apprehended.
16-year-old girl killed, 8-year-old injured in hit-and-run near Sunnyside Intermediate School 125, Queens. On the last day of classes, the victims were struck by a truck at 47th Avenue and 47th Street around 3:30 p.m. The driver fled but was later located and taken into custody. The 8-year-old child suffered minor injuries and is expected to survive. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
