Former Boston attorney Gary Zerola, once named one of People magazine's "most eligible bachelors", has been convicted of rape after a jury deliberated for five hours. Zerola, 52, was acquitted of the greater charge of aggravated rape and burglary. He was arrested in January 2021 on a warrant for rape and breaking and entering. Zerola has faced previous charges of rape and sexual assault, but was acquitted in 2023.
