The first Australian Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) in Central-West Orana has received planning approval for transmission infrastructure, paving the way for construction of essential lines to connect large-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects to the electricity grid. This milestone will attract around $20bn in private investment and support 5,000 jobs during peak construction. The project aims to deliver at least 4.5GW of transmitted electricity, enough to power 1.8 million homes.
