The Royal Canadian Mint introduces a new $1 coin in honor of Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables, on the 150th anniversary of her birth. The limited-edition coin, featuring Montgomery's likeness and her character Anne Shirley, is the first time a Canadian author is honored on a coin. With 2 million colorized versions, the coin circulates from June 27, 2024, and is created by Prince Edward Island artist Brenda Jones.
