New Zealand approves adjustments to emissions targets and moves Clean Car Importer Standard to user-pays model.
New Zealand's government has approved changes to the Land Transport (Clean Vehicle Standard) Act, enabling easier adjustments to emissions targets via a review of the Clean Vehicle Standard. The Clean Car Importer Standard, which regulates vehicle importers to reduce CO2 emissions, will now be set by regulation rather than legislation and operate on a user-pays model, minimizing costs to taxpayers. A review of the Clean Car Importer Standard's emissions targets is ongoing.
