NASA awards $2M for developing mycotecture, a fungi-based habitat solution for space exploration.

NASA has awarded $2 million to develop the Mycotecture Off Planet project, using fungi to create habitats for future space explorers on the Moon and Mars. The concept aims to create lightweight, compact habitats using dormant fungi that can be activated with water, reducing mass and saving resources. The mycotecture project also has applications on Earth for water filtration and wastewater systems.
