Markel Group Inc. appoints Phil Schmidt as its new Chief Strategy Officer, overseeing global strategy and corporate development activities. Schmidt, previously with Burg and Babbel AG, will lead the Global Strategy team and work with Markel's State National and Nephila divisions. Schmidt holds degrees from the University of Freiburg, University of Bedfordshire, and an MBA from London Business School.
