Ireland's Assisted Human Reproduction (AHR) Bill, covering fertility treatments and surrogacy, has passed through the Seanad, allowing parents of children born via surrogacy to gain legal recognition for the first time. The legislation sets up a regulatory authority, requires independent legal advice and counselling, and ensures access to information for children born through assisted human reproduction. It will now be sent to President Michael D Higgins for consideration before becoming law.
