622,300 foreign visitors arrived in Ireland in May, up 8.5% from the previous year, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The largest group of visitors came from Britain (34.9%), followed by the US (20.2%) and Germany (7.4%). Although the number of visitors increased, the average stay decreased from 7.8 to 7.2 nights. Total spending on trips increased by 29% to €810.6 million.
