European study ASCEND finds space-based data centers economically viable and carbon-reducing.

A European study called ASCEND concluded that space-based data centers could be economically viable and reduce carbon footprint, as electricity consumption from data centers may reach 1,000 terawatt-hours by 2026. Space-based data storage facilities could benefit from "infinite energy" captured from the sun at an altitude of around 1,400 km, addressing energy-hungry on-ground data centers.
