The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Mizoram has convicted and sentenced two Bangladeshi nationals, Mahmud Hassan and Mohamad Sayad Hussain, for conspiring to carry out terrorist attacks in India. They were sentenced to five years in prison each, along with a fine of 10,000 Rupees or one month in default. The NIA discovered that the two individuals were part of a larger conspiracy orchestrated by Ansar-al-Islam, a terrorist group claiming to be the Bangladesh wing of Al-Qaeda. The convicted terrorists had entered India illegally and were staying at various locations using fake Indian identity documents.
