Amazon plans to launch a new marketplace featuring low-priced items that ship directly from China to overseas consumers, responding to the growth of discount sites like Temu and Shein. The new section, set to start signing up merchants this summer and accept inventory in the fall, will offer unbranded fashion, home goods, and daily necessities with delivery times of 9 to 11 days. It is unclear whether shipments will be made under the U.S. trade provision exempting individual packages worth less than $800 from U.S. customs duties.
