Amazon invests $72 million in Amazon Pay India, aiming to compete with Google Pay and PhonePe.

Amazon injects $72 million into its Indian payments business, Amazon Pay India, in a bid to compete with Google Pay and Walmart-backed PhonePe. This is the second significant investment in the fintech arm this year, following a $41.9 million investment in February. Amazon has also invested nearly $299 million in Amazon Seller Services, which operates its e-commerce marketplace in India.
