Union Minister Nitin Gadkari suggests charging toll fees only for good-quality roads in a satellite-based tolling system.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated at a global workshop on satellite-based tolling that highway agencies should not collect toll fees from people if the roads are not in good condition. Gadkari emphasized that agencies should charge toll fees for the best quality roads only, as collecting fees for poor road conditions will lead to backlash from the public. The satellite-based tolling system is set to be introduced for over 5,000 km in the financial year 2024-25.
