New South Wales government plans to extend the Fernleigh Track, a 27-km path from Belmont to Murrays Beach, to the Central Coast. A $2m feasibility study is assessing a coastal walkway from Caves Beach to Budgewoi via Munmorah State Conservation Area, which could connect with Lake Macquarie and Central Coast councils. The track is seen as a significant piece of infrastructure and a potential tourism drawcard.
