2 men convicted in connection to the murder of Sandringham, Auckland dairy worker, Janak Patel. Frederick Gilbert Hobson, 36, received a life sentence with a minimum non-parole period of 15 years for the murder and aggravated robbery. Shane Henry Tane, 44, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years imprisonment for aggravated robbery. Patel, a recent arrival in Auckland, was tragically killed during a violent incident at the Rose Cottage Superette on Fowlds Avenue in November 2022.
