Malaysia's FDI net inflow decreased to RM40.4bn in 2023 from RM75.4bn in 2022, reflecting the global economic slowdown, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM). Direct investment abroad (DIA) outflow also totalled RM40.6bn in 2023. The cumulative value of foreign investment, or FDI position, increased to RM926bn, accounting for 50.8% of Malaysia's GDP.
