Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) unanimously approved an $18.4bn budget, maintaining essential programs and avoiding layoffs despite expiring federal pandemic relief funding. The budget includes $1.8bn for educator and support staff raises, $95m to reduce class sizes, and $125m for the Black Student Achievement Plan. LAUSD also approved $216m for arts funding, including a $30m increase. The budget is $600m less than the previous year's approved $19bn spending plan.
