Irish government approves €5bn Shannon-Dublin water pipeline project for housing and economic growth.
The Irish government has approved a €5bn project to build a water pipeline from the River Shannon to Dublin, aiming to support housing and economic growth. The 170km pipeline will provide a secure and sustainable water supply for up to 50% of the country's population, addressing vulnerabilities in the current River Liffey-dependent supply. Uisce Éireann, the national water utility, will now proceed to the planning stage for the project.
