India needs to expand its data centre capacity by 1.7-3.6 GW by 2028 to keep up with high demand, according to a report by Cushman & Wakefield. The country is already constructing 2.32 GW of data centre capacity, but consumption of data per person (over 19 GB) is among the highest in the world. India has the potential to become a global data centre hub due to its low cost of construction, land, and power. Currently, India's data centre capacity stands at 977 MW across the top 7 cities, with a projected total capacity of 3.29 GW by 2028.
