Indian firm Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) won a $1.53bn contract with Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) to build two 700MW electrical reactors at Kaiga, Karnataka, marking the highest-valued tender ever rolled out by NPCIL. The contract aims to contribute to India's nuclear energy sector, which is expected to invite $26bn in investments to increase carbon-free electricity generation.
