6,000 GBP brass eagle stolen from St Augustine's Church in Birmingham, recovered after community tip-off and police arrest.
A £6,000 brass eagle was stolen from St Augustine's Church in Edgbaston, Birmingham, but was returned after a community tip-off led police to a Black Country scrap metal dealer. The thief, caught on CCTV, draped a blanket over the eagle, which dates back to the church's 1868 opening, before making a quick exit. Following the theft, West Midlands Police arrested a 61-year-old man on suspicion of the crime.
