Cement Manufacturers' Chamber (COCMAG) opposes Ghana Trade Minister's LI on cement price regulation due to lack of prior consultation.
The Chamber of Cement Manufacturers (COCMAG) has opposed the recent proposal of a Legislative Instrument (LI) by Ghana's Trade Minister, Kobina Tahir Hammond, to regulate cement prices. COCMAG's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah, expressed concern that the proposal was made without prior consultation with cement manufacturers, undermining principles of fairness, transparency, and inclusive decision-making. The Trade Minister has defended the L.I., insisting manufacturers were consulted and that it is necessary to prevent a cartel from exploiting the public.
