Cardiff University researchers create an algorithm reducing bat roost search area, aiding conservation projects.
Researchers at Cardiff University have developed an algorithm that significantly reduces the area needed for searching bat roosts, potentially saving time and labour costs. Combining a mathematical model of bat motion with data from acoustic recorders called "bat detectors", the new algorithm uses simulation to calculate the most likely roost locations, allowing more time for conservation projects.
