94-year-old actress Gena Rowlands, known for her role in The Notebook, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, her son, director Nick Cassavetes, has revealed. Rowlands played the older version of Allie, a character who also suffered from Alzheimer's in the 2004 film, starring opposite Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. Cassavetes shared that his grandmother, Lady Rowlands, also had Alzheimer's.
