RTÉ plans to cut 400 jobs, reduce personnel costs, and seek a €20M bailout as part of its "New Direction" strategy.

RTÉ, Ireland's national broadcaster, plans to cut 400 jobs over five years as part of its new five-year strategy, aiming to secure a €20 million bailout from the Government. The "New Direction" strategy includes reducing personnel costs from 51% to 45% of operating costs, closing four digital radio services, and launching two new apps. The strategy also calls for more transparency in financial reporting, including earnings for the leadership team, and moving some production away from its Dublin site.
