OpenAI plans to block access to technology used to build AI products for entities in China and some other countries from July 9, according to a notice sent to Chinese developers. The ChatGPT creator has been officially unavailable in mainland China, but many Chinese startups have been able to access OpenAI's API platform to build their own applications. The move by OpenAI follows growing pressure from Washington and comes amid a deepening AI divide between China and the US.
