Nigerian court dismisses Naira abuse charges against Cubana Chief Priest, orders N10m payment and anti-Naira abuse campaign.
Nigerian court strikes out charge against celebrity bartender Cubana Chief Priest over alleged Naira abuse; orders him to pay N10m as part of an out-of-court deal with the EFCC. The court's decision follows the adoption of terms of settlement between the parties. The EFCC had initially accused Cubana Chief Priest of spraying and tampering with Naira notes during a social event at the Eko Hotel in Lagos. The bartender had pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N10m. As part of the settlement, Cubana Chief Priest is also required to engage in a sensitization and campaign against Naira abuse, posting videos on his social media handles every two months promoting the responsible use of the Naira and condemning related offences.
