200-meter gold medalist Athing Mu will not participate in the Paris Olympics after falling during the women's 800-meter final at the U.S. trials in Eugene, Oregon. Mu, who won gold in Tokyo, finished last in the final due to the fall. Fellow competitor Nia Akins, who experienced a similar fall in the 2019 trials, won the race and will represent the U.S. in Paris. This marks Akins' first Olympics at 25 years old.
