Kerala leader, Mustafa Mundupara of Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (SYS), has sparked controversy by advocating for a separate "Malabar state" due to perceived differential treatment between South Kerala and Malabar regions. Mundupara raised the issue during a protest regarding insufficient Plus One seats in the Malabar region. BJP state chief K Surendran criticized the proposal, stating that the BJP will oppose its formation and fight against any move to divide Kerala.
