2023 Ireland sees record 13,104 drug treatment cases, cocaine use up 9% year-on-year, accounting for over 37% of cases.

Ireland saw a record 13,104 drug treatment cases in 2023, up 9% from the previous year, with cocaine use increasing sharply, particularly among women. Cocaine was the most common drug reported, accounting for over 37% of all cases, a 20% increase from 2022. The Health Research Board (HRB) attributes the rise to an increase in provision of specific services to treat cocaine addiction and a 228% increase in cases since 2017.
