33 family tombs dating back to the Greco-Roman era have been discovered in Egypt's Aswan province, providing new insights into the history and diseases prevalent during those times. The tombs, some containing mummified remains and funerary artefacts, were found by an Egyptian-Italian archaeological mission working near the Aga Khan Mausoleum west of Aswan. Initial studies on the mummies have revealed a range of health conditions that affected the ancient population, including infectious diseases and bone disorders.
