984ft Dali cargo ship departs Baltimore for Virginia after striking Francis Scott Key Bridge in March, killing 6 repair workers and requiring full reopening of the Port of Baltimore shipping channel.

The Dali cargo ship, which crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore in March, has finally departed the city's port three months later. The 984ft vessel left Baltimore for Virginia on 18 July, aided by four tugboats. Six repair workers were killed when the ship struck the bridge, and the Port of Baltimore shipping channel had to be fully reopened after the removal of 50,000 tonnes of wreckage. The Dali crew, originally comprising 21 members, had been stuck on the ship in the channel due to being considered witnesses and lacking valid visas or shore passes.
