Ford recalls over 550,000 pickup trucks in US due to unexpected downshifting issue; transmissions can suddenly downshift to 1st gear, increasing risk of crash. F-150 pickups from the 2014 model year are affected. Ford says the problem is caused by a lost signal between the transmission speed sensor and the powertrain control computer. Dealers will update the powertrain control software at no cost to owners.
