Construction company Volker Stevin Contracting Ltd. and supervisor Michael O'Neill were convicted and fined a total of $546,000 under Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Act and Code for a fatal workplace accident in 2019. A 38-year-old worker was killed by a truck driven by O'Neill while working near a storm drain in Airdrie, Alberta. Both the company and O'Neill can appeal the sentences within 30 days.
