AP plans to create a charitable organization to raise funds for state and local journalism.
The Associated Press (AP) plans to establish a sister organization to raise funds for state and local journalism, as the crisis in local news continues. The independent 501(c)3 charitable organization will solicit philanthropic spending to boost news coverage within AP and through outside organizations. AP President and CEO Daisy Veerasingham stated that the crisis in local news is worsening, and it's AP's role to support local journalism as a public good.
