40-year-old Lyndsey Ainscough from Greater Manchester recently shared her journey of being diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer and finding a new lease on life through experimental immunotherapy treatment at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. The treatment, which Ainscough started in September 2022, successfully eradicated her cancer. Ainscough credits Dame Deborah James, a campaigner for bowel cancer awareness, for inspiring her to get checked when she noticed similar symptoms. Dame Deborah's mother, Heather, expressed gratitude for the impact her daughter's work has had on people like Ainscough.
