43 work-related deaths were reported in Ireland in 2023, according to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) annual report, with agriculture and construction sectors accounting for the majority. The authority conducted nearly 10,000 inspections, resulting in 19 prosecutions and over €1.3m in fines. Despite improvements in workplace safety, ongoing issues in agriculture and construction continue to result in worker fatalities.
