US Federal Reserve conducts annual stress tests on banks, assessing their resilience to economic downturns.

The US Federal Reserve will release results of its annual stress tests on banks, assessing their resilience to severe economic downturns. The tests, begun in 2011, determine capital requirements and dividend/buyback limits. This year's test is similar to 2023, with a 6.3% unemployment rate rise, and Fed also conducts "exploratory" shocks on banks, testing some against a counterparty failure and increasing tested banks from 23 to 32.
