60 runners braved rain for the second Just a Girl 5k/10k race in South Portland to mark 50 years of Title IX, prohibiting sex-based discrimination in schools' sports programs. The race also served as a fundraiser for "Strong Girls United", a nonprofit empowering girls and women. Co-founder Katie Stannard and the nonprofit's executive director Lani Silversides aim to turn challenges in male-dominated industries into positive initiatives.
