Police in Kano have increased security at the two palaces housing rival emirs, Sanusi and Ado Bayero, in response to security threats. Local hunters guarding the palaces have been replaced with armed personnel. The outgoing Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, stated that additional security personnel have been deployed to handle any unforeseen circumstances and maintain a peaceful atmosphere during the ongoing emirship tussle.
