Ipswich Hospital, managed by East Suffolk and North East Essex NHS Foundation Trust, recorded 865 mixed-sex accommodation breaches between Jan-Apr 2021, despite the NHS Operating Framework from 2012/13 aiming to eliminate such cases. The breaches, mainly in medical and surgical assessment units, could have resulted in a £216,250 fine in 2024. Mixed-sex accommodation can lead to loss of privacy, distress, and hindered recovery.
