Haldimand County council considers rezoning Nanticoke for a giant town amid employment zone status.

Divided Haldimand County council affirmed its willingness to consider building a giant town in Nanticoke, despite the area being designated as a provincially significant employment zone, unsuitable for housing. A "minister's zoning order" (MZO) must be obtained from the province to rezone the area for residential use. The previous council unanimously endorsed Empire's request for an MZO, filed in March 2022.
