Energy distributor Powerco invests $14.7m in Coromandel, with $8.6m on an infrastructure project for Coromandel township to provide backup power during outages and holiday periods, and $6.1m for Matarangi town during peak visitor periods. Two 2.5MVA generators are installed within the Thames Coromandel District Council's water treatment site, expected to power around 3000 homes and businesses. The project is set for completion in September.
