Eddie Murphy has confirmed a fifth Shrek film and a Donkey spinoff are in active development, with Shrek 5 in production and set for release in 2025. The Donkey spinoff will follow after Shrek 5. Both films follow the popularity of recent animated films like Kung Fu Panda 4 and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Original voice cast members Murphy, Mike Myers, and Cameron Diaz are expected to reprise their roles.
