Alberta Energy Regulator forecasts a 17% growth in oilsands production by 2033, reaching 4 million barrels per day, up from 3.4 million in 2022. Most of the growth is expected to come from in situ operations and global oil prices are predicted to rise from an average of $76 per barrel (US) in 2022 to $83.63 by 2033. The regulator believes fossil fuels will remain an important part of the global energy mix.
