19-year-old deaf woman Hafwen Clarke made history as the first person to deliver a British Sign Language (BSL) speech at Buckingham Palace. She was among young people receiving their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award from Prince Edward. Clarke, a trilingual St John Ambulance volunteer and student, taught 500 attendees how to say thank you in sign language during the event.
