A Comfort Women statue, symbolizing victims of Japan's wartime sexual slavery, has been installed for the first time in Italy at Stintino Beach, Sardinia island. This marks the 14th statue placed overseas and the second on public land in Europe, following Berlin, Germany. The statue represents 200,000 Asian women, mostly Koreans, forced to work as sex slaves for Japanese troops during WWII.
